Job Title: Part-time Financial Assistant (15-20 hours/week)

Definition & Summary of Position:

This position involves the responsibility for performing the accounting and bookkeeping of the church business operations.

 

The Financial Assistant shall work with the church staff, committees, and members on financial matters and must be a person of strong morals and honest character. The Financial Assistant will be handling church monies and shall be required to be properly bonded.

 

The Financial Assistant shall be under the immediate supervision of the Lead Pastor and Church Treasurer. The workweek will generally consist of ~15 hours with a maximum limit of 20 hours when required. The working hours shall fall between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on Monday through Friday. The schedule can be determined by the Financial Assistant but shall remain consistent every week. A change in the schedule shall require prior approval by the Lead Pastor.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Record checks and deposits in the accounting software

2. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations in the accounting software

3. Prepare a monthly treasurer’s report to present to Budget Committee prior to the monthly business meeting

4. Check payable requests for accuracy and proper signatures

5. Prepare checks and attach payable requests for the Treasurer’s signature

6. Properly record contributions and all designated offerings to the correct fund

7. Prepare a monthly income/expenditure report for each budgeted item to be given to committee heads upon request

8. Prepare yearly individual statements of contributions for all contributors

9. Prepare bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for church staff and all tax reporting requirements (Form 941, Kentucky withholding and Murray withholding returns)

 

Basic Qualifications:

- Prefer a High School graduate

- Previous experience and working knowledge with QuickBooks accounting software.

- Familiarity with the accrual basis of accounting.

- Experience with or an ability to demonstrate administrative skills

- Have a strong sense of calling to work in the local church

 

Restrictions/Limitations

1. Does not have authority to sign church checks

2. Does not have authority to make church purchases or charges

3. Shall not handle any uncounted money without being in the presence of a Church Treasurer

 

Compensation Package

Salary and other compensations are determined annually as a part of the church budget and agreed upon by the Financial Secretary.
