Acts 1:8 Ministry

Making disciples here and around the world

About the Acts 1:8 Ministry

The Acts 1:8 ministry team is dedicated to fulfilling the Great Commission by spreading the Gospel and serving others here and around the world. Our ministry team is centered around Acts 1:8, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The Acts 1:8 team seeks to fulfill this mission by equipping the church and orchestrating opportunities for service locally, statewide, in North America, and abroad.

Currently, there are opportunities to serve abroad in Villa Nueva, Guatemala, in Bowling Green, KY and locally in our own Murray, KY. Local evangelistic outreaches such as our new Saturate initiative include praying, caring, and going to the local homes in our community. As well, Backyard Bible Clubs are organized to engage the youth of our town and their families to know and follow Christ. This year we will also offer a short trip of 4 nights to Bowling Green, KY to work with refugee children from many different countries. Acts 1:8 also provides financial assistance to church members who are going on mission trips to serve in other communities in the states and abroad.

Our international opportunity in Guatemala focuses on the City of Children School and Child services. Once a year we provide quantities of toiletries and other health care products for the children who would otherwise go without due to lack of resources. We also provide shoes for all children in the orphanage while we stay at the children’s center with them. We engage the children with vacation Bible school activities and worship opportunities while also talking with all ages during the time we have allotted at the orphanage. Whether it is a male member of our team having a devotional/testimony with the teenage boys or a female member engaging the young mothers with a time to be child again or to encourage them to love their child even in the most difficult of circumstances, we concentrate on sharing the love of Christ by showing each child love that they have been deprived of most of their lives.
