Job Title: Part-Time Biblical Counselor (~10–20 hrs/wk)
Job Summary: The Biblical Counselor will provide Christ-centered, Scripture-based counseling to individuals, couples, and families within the church and local community. This role seeks to apply God’s Word to life’s struggles, encouraging spiritual growth, healing, and transformation through the truth of Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide expert-level Christ-centered counseling using established, certified practices and procedures
- Support the intake and scheduling of biblical counseling cases
- Provide counsel to staff on issues related to counseling and pastoral care
- When requested, receive overflow or re-directed counseling cases from WBC Pastors
- Communicate regularly with Lead Pastor concerning high risk counseling sessions
- Adhere to Westside Baptist Church handbook and State & Federal guidelines
Education and/or Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or college degree
- Nationally recognized license, certification, and/or equivalent university education in biblical counseling or relevant field
- Previous experience working in a ministry environment preferred
- 5+ years of counseling experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in conflict resolution
- Demonstrate high levels of discretion and maintain confidentiality according to standard, biblical counseling practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational/administrative skills
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team in a church staff environment
- Demonstrate a servant heart with spiritual maturity and sensitivity
